The 715bhp Ferrari Purosangue is a newly released V12 family car that is neither an SUV or a crossover; it’s a sports car. The name translates to ‘thoroughbred’ in Italian, which is highly appropriate considering the Purosangue is the only Ferrari you can currently buy that comes with Ferrari’s signature V12 engine.
The first four-door four-seater in Ferrari history stands at only 1,589 mm tall in comparison to the mighty Range Rover, which stands at a whopping 1,870 mm. The headlights are similar to the SP1 Monza, if not a little stretched, and the rear bears a slight resemblance to a Ferrari Roma. As expected, the steering has that famed modern Ferrari agility. Ferrari claims the Purosangue only weighs 2,033kg (with all the carbon lightweight options selected) when dry; however, quench its thirst with 100 litres of fuel plus a driver and the snazzy sports-car cross SUV will weigh nearly 2.2 tonnes.
This might be one of the most imposing cars we’ve seen since the release of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
So, what do you need to know?
It’s Ferrari’s first “SUV”
It boasts a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12
725hp and 716Nm of torque
0-60mph in 3.3 seconds
Top speed above 193mph
How much will it cost?
Prices are set to start at £350,000. Gulp. Finance anyone?
At such a hefty price, the Purosangue will cost almost twice as much as the Aston Martin DBX, Bentley Bentayga or the Lamborghini Urus and six times more than a Porsche Macan. What’s more, Ferrari will supposedly cap sales at twenty per cent of its total output, meaning it will remain rarer than any other SUV before it.
Even though you won’t see one until winter of 2023, it’s already selling out fast.
That all being said, there’s only one question left to answer … how on earth do you pronounce it?
Poor-oh-sang-way I say. What about you?
