Managing EV Depreciation

Choosing the right finance agreement is vital when buying an electric vehicle because rapid technological advancements can make their market values volatile. Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) is a strong option as it defers part of the car's cost to an optional final payment, keeping monthly repayments manageable and setting a Guaranteed Minimum Future Value (GMFV) from the start.

At the end of a PCP agreement, you can pay the final amount to own the car, use any equity towards a new vehicle, or simply return it. This hand-back option is particularly valuable in a fluctuating EV market, as it protects you from unexpected depreciation if the car's value drops below the GMFV. Our Finance Specialists are available to help you navigate and compare these options before deciding.

Why is Tesla such a popular choice?

Tesla has become a recognised name in electric motoring through its combination of performance, software-led technology and everyday practicality. Features such as over-the-air updates and access to Tesla's Supercharger network have helped establish its position in the market.

With models ranging from the Model 3 saloon to the Model Y SUV and higher-performance variants, there are options for different driving needs. At Charles & Dean, we can explore finance options for eligible vehicles across the range.

Which Tesla models can Charles & Dean finance?

We can explore finance for a range of Tesla models, including the Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X, subject to vehicle eligibility and lender criteria. Availability will depend on factors such as the model year, specification, value and your circumstances.

Whether you're looking for an everyday electric car or a higher-performance model, our Finance Specialists can discuss potential funding options for your chosen vehicle.

How does Tesla depreciation affect finance?

A Tesla's future market value can influence the finance options available, with factors such as model, age, mileage, specification and market demand all potentially affecting its valuation.

With PCP, the agreed GMFV sets the optional final payment at the outset. If you return the vehicle at the end of the agreement, you won't usually need to pay that final amount, provided you meet the agreement's return conditions. Excess mileage, damage or other charges may still apply, so it's important to check the terms carefully.

Can you finance older Tesla models?

Potentially. Finance may be available for older and used Tesla models, depending on the vehicle and lender criteria. The options offered will depend on factors including the car's age, mileage, value, condition and your financial circumstances.

We can assess the details of the vehicle you're considering and explore whether suitable funding options are available through our lender panel.

Can I refinance a Tesla I already own?

Potentially. If you already have a Tesla on finance, refinancing may allow you to replace your existing agreement with a new one, subject to lender approval and the terms of your current finance.

If you own your Tesla outright, equity release may also be an option, depending on the vehicle's value and lender criteria. Our team can discuss your circumstances and explain the potential costs and implications before you decide.
